Travel the depths of your being. You will find the answers you seek.
I have always been a seeker. As early as I can remember, I was looking and waiting for discovery. Desperately wanting it to all to come together and make sense - this life, this journey, this time here. With deep gratitude (and relief) I can say that the more I travel, the more I have come to feel at home in who I am, feeling less of a pull to seek beyond the depth and wisdom I know exists within . I didn't always feel this way. I spent a good part of my life rejecting and resenting my experience - constantly questioning and doubting who I was and where I was going as I struggled with depression, anxiety, chronic illness and addiction. Where as I once felt like a victim, I see now that everything that came before is what has made me the woman, who today I am grateful to be and the woman who, with excitement, I continue to become.
When I realized what was possible through a deepening connection to my body, mind and spirit I became more aware of what was possible in life. I started to awaken to a world in which I was no longer held captive, but one that I was able to explore with greater freedom and clarity, leading me down a path that would eventually help me discover the healer that I am today. In 2007 I became certified in Nia, a technique combining dance and therapeutic movement (including yoga) that is intended to unleash the joyful, soulful, healing energy (in yogi terms - Prana) within. It was wonderful for me at that point in my life; I was frenetic and needed to move freely. Though I enjoyed yoga, I loved the empowering creative expression Nia allowed me to connect with that felt essential for me at that time. Eventually though, I needed more yoga in my life. I realized the need to confront myself, be with myself and look at myself the way yoga called me to do. I yearned for deeper inquiry not only in the physical practice but the tenets and teachings of the philosophy of yoga. I wanted to grow and I knew yoga would provide that opportunity. By 2009, I began my 200 hr teacher training and shortly thereafter began teaching at a treatment center. I was passionate about sharing the gifts of the practice with others but as life became quite busy, teaching soon took a back seat.
During this time I had started another career and for the first time in my life, I felt like I was growing up, "adulting" if you will. But after the birth of my daughter I began looking at things from a different perspective as I spent countless days wondering how I could be a more present and active Mother (note - not so burnt out) and a happier and healthier person who could share my passions of healing in a way that felt more natural to me . I became quite aware that I needed to change something and was moved to take a leap and listen to my heart. In 2014 I followed my calling as a healer, and began to teach yoga and started on a path to becoming a massage therapist. This shift allowed for more time and flexibility at home and as a mother, while doing work I felt soulfully called to. Since then I have been teaching regular classes at Peace Yoga, offering healing services privately and at Full Heart Soulutions and at my home studio as well as working in treatment centers, festivals, and special events.
Through practicing and teaching yoga I have witnessed part of me come to life in a way I never quite imagined. I have made peace with my body, met my enemies, made space for revelation and growth and taught my way through fear and anxiety to a place of confidence and ease. And I say this with humility, and belief that I would not be who I am if it was not for yoga, along with the other healing modalities I have integrated and made a focus in my life. Going to massage school and being immersed in the physical and energetic world of being human, was a stepping stone in my ever present desire to help others; to touch them in such a way that brings them into awareness of their own possibility of healing, no matter how impossible it may seem.
In my classes and in much of the work I do, I come from an understanding that if you are unsure, uncomfortable or at dis-ease with yourself that that is okay, but that there is work to be done and progress to be made. And most importantly, that such a process, will be amazingly transformative and certainly worth the effort. In time, If you take the invitation to come home, the great reward is that you will wake up to your own reservoir of fulfillment of being who you are and come to peacefully live in the body (and the mind) that you have to experience this precious life with.
I believe that we all deserve an awakening within, if we haven't already had one. I believe we all deserve to know peace and to make the journey towards finding it. The missing "piece" is the peace inside and it is waiting to be found. I promise you. It is the home in each and everyone of us and I am passionate about helping you discover it, get to know it and settle in to it. I believe that my work here on earth is to help in some way, and I want to help you. I am available for yoga, massage/energy healing sessions and consultations. If you are looking to make changes in your life, big or small, take a breath and start where you are and proceed. All is coming.
